Thiessen, aka Dr BLT © 2020 I’ve never been to the place  where people tell me  I ain’t nothin’ if  I ain’t been there  I’ve never been to the place  where country stars are born  and you can feel the history in the air  chorus:  I’ve never been to Nashville  but I’ve been to Bakersfield  no, it ain’t fancy  but the people there are real  no I’ve never been to Nashville  where I could cut a record deal  no I’ve never been to Nashville  but I’ve been to Bakersfield  I’ve never been to the place  with all of them gold records  and all of them producers  with their fancy gear I’ve never been to the place  where the streets are paved with gold  but the streets of Bakersfield  will never get old  (chorus)  someday I will surely  surely go to Nashville  when I’ve saved enough  of them crisp, cold cash bills  then I’ll buy a set of new wheels  and I’ll sign that record deal  no I’ve never been to Nashville  but I’ve been to Bakersfield (chorus)

Thiessen, aka Dr BLT © 2020 it happened one mornin’ on April 19 there he was, old Mick Jagger in the middle of my dream I had one backstage pass to an old antique store  And Mick stood there, smilin’ as he answered the door He was packin’ his clothes  he was slick in his duds painted felt shoes and  he wiped off the mud he said Pleased to meet you  then he said my name  he said You’re one step closer to fortune and fame  Chorus: you’ll be the opening act for  The Rolling Stones name up in lights been heretofore unknown I’m packin’ my bags and all that I own I’ll be the opening act for  The Rolling Stones Paint it black n blue  too good to be true, but pass the baton I’ll be rockin’ for you  Mick will be there sittin’ up on his thrown I’ll be the opening act for the  Rolling Stones (chorus)

Thiessen, aka Dr BLT © 2020 With the pick up like mine  who needs pick up lines  with a pick up like mine  who needs fancy rhymes  chorus:   in my cab she will climb  and she’s looking so fine  in this pickup of mine mine  in my cab she will climb  and she’s looking so fine  in the pick up of mine  with a pick up like mine  and all it’s fancy chrome  gets a girl every time  I’ll never be alone  I just laugh when I go  to the honky tonks in town  and hear the corny lines  my friends are laying down  I just chuckle to myself  as I watch my pick up shine  with a pick up like mine  who needs pick up lines  (repeat verse; one chorus)
